“COLORS … OF MUSIC“
NEW M.C.CAROLYN PAINTING TECHNIQUE:
ACRYLIC PAINTS, INKS ON BRISTOL BOARD AND ALCOHOL INKS ON ACETATE FILM
As we listen to various qualities of music, do we see colors for those sounds? Is the repetitious drum beat overlaid with women’s voices possibly a red sound? How about the flowing notes of an American Indian flute? Then there are the women’s voices singing songs often very personal and only sung among their family groups. Could green represent the flute? Could blue/pink make you think of Women’s voices?
The history of American Indian women’s songs was almost lost. Only recently have women recreated/sung again those ancient songs of our American world. Women were prohibited from even touching a drum in the northern areas. Also women did not use a flute, way back then. Only voices gave women the opportunity to celebrate their lives and loves.
This painting “Colors of … Music” is a representation of those colors. M.C.CAROLYN has also added a new dimension to “Colors of Music”. This painting is a combination of two art mediums: one acrylic paints, and the second the new alcohol inks. Each gives a completely different quality to color. The alcohol ink patterns are painted on acetate film that is placed on top of the acrylic painting. The integration of detail and colors is further enhanced with a glossy varnish finish.
This is new art for the 21st century!
